My Testimony

I was brought up to attend a congregationalist Church but sadly it was one where the gospel was never preached. At the age of 17 I began to start thinking seriously about spiritual matters. Around the same time I was invited to a meeting where an evangelist called David Wilcox was preaching. It was there that I began to be challenged about my sinfulness and my need of salvation. Not long after this, while at a Young People’s weekend God convicted me and saved me. I felt assured in my heart that I now belonged to the Lord and was safe from the judgement to come. I also began to feel an awareness of the condition of those who were not saved. I began to be involved in Sunday School work and helping others who were preaching to the lost.

In 1971, believing I was called to preach the gospel myself, I finished my carpentry apprenticeship and went off to Bible College. I had expected to become a missionary overseas, but the Lord showed me of the great need in this land, and He led me very clearly into The Open-Air Mission. I continue to thank the Lord for His leading, help and grace which has kept me to this day.
