Up until the age of seventeen I had never heard the gospel message. Then, out of the blue one of my best friends died. When I stood at the grave side I remember thinking to myself that one day it would be my turn, and what then? Neither I, nor any of my friends had a satisfactory answer. Six months later I met a Christian for the first time and all the questions that had been building up over the months came out like bullets from a machine gun. I was given a book to read entitled "Christian Certainty" which I read over and over again during a three week period. I then visited the Christian and that evening I trusted Christ as my Saviour and Lord.
Very soon after that I became very aware of the multitudes of people who were in exactly the same position I had been, ignorant of the good news of the gospel and heading for a lost eternity. This spurred me to begin using my lunch breaks to preach that gospel in the open-air in Nottingham. For over forty years now I have been engaged in this work and have had the joy of seeing a number of people come to faith in Christ, to God be all the glory.
