The Amazing Acts

The exhibition comprises 18 display boards on which are pictures and text telling the story of the birth and growth of the early church. It is based predominantly on the New Testament book of The Acts, although a brief account is also given of the birth, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus, from the gospels.

The stories are brought to life by people dressed up as characters from those early church days. You get to meet Peter, Paul, Lydia, Silas, the Philippian Jailer, Priscilla, King Agrippa, and maybe Doctor Luke who wrote this book. Hear the story of Pentecost, Stephen’s martyrdom, Paul’s conversion. We visit the Jail in Philippi, complete with real stocks, and hear the jailer’s amazing account of a night he would never forget. We learn of how Paul and others shared the good news about Jesus, and how Christianity spread across the mighty Roman empire.

Having seen the exhibition, the children then get to answer questions on a simple worksheet, by looking at the boards. This helps to reinforce what they have heard. It really is a most amazing story that continues to this very day!
Pilgrim’s Progress

Pilgrim’s Progress is John Bunyan’s greatest classic, which is still the world’s No 2. Best Seller.

‘Pilgrim’, who’s name is later changed to ‘Christian’, takes the children through 17 boards - telling his story of how he travels from the City of Destruction, through the Narrow Gate and on to the Cross - where his burden falls away. Then on along the straight path to the Heavenly City and all the dangers he meets on the way.

Along the way we meet the characters, dressed in period costume, of ‘Evangelist’, Interpreter, Charity, Lord Hategood, Hopeful, Faithless (Giant Despair’s Wife) and Flatterer. On the final board the story is told of Christiana, Christian’s wife, who also follows on the same journey to the Heavenly City, with her 4 sons and others who joined them along the way.

The pictures are mounted on 18 boards approximately 91 cm x 122 cm (3 ft by 4 ft), which are fixed onto light stands (designed to easily lift to one side for a hall to be used for other purposes).

Bible Exhibitions
These exhibitions are run in conjunction with local churches. They are used extensively throughout the year and are seen by thousands of children each year.  Basically, each exhibition consists of about twenty large exhibition boards, containing large colour pictures. The children are guided round the boards with a narrator. At various intervals they meet a character, dressed in costume, to tell their story first hand. Appropriate props are provided. Afterwards, clip boards and pencils are distributed and the children complete a worksheet.

We have found these to be a useful tool in evangelism in the past, presenting the gospel in a clear way. Usually, an exhibition would be hosted by a local church, and school groups invited in. However, some fellowships can not accommodate, and so have obtained permission to take the exhibition into the schools.
