Making of the Well Dressings
Clay is put into an old bath, puddled and then spread evenly onto the boards.

An outline is drawn onto paper, and is copied onto the clay using coffee beans, other colourful seeds are added, and flower petals are pressed into the clay to provide the vivid colours.
When the picture is completed the boards are then transported to the site where they are to be erected. Much care has to be taken as these boards are heavy, and this no doubt is the reason why the men are usually involved in this part of the work, and there is a great sense of relief when the job is done.
