Back in April the nation, and indeed the world, was gripped by Royal Wedding fever. Those charged with advertising London as a holiday destination couldn’t really have asked for a better occasion to show off the capital. The superficial gloss of a royal occasion and the joy that it brought, however, seemed, for a few days at least, to cover up the sad truth that London is a city sinking deeper and deeper into a cesspit of its own sin and depravity. It is a privilege therefore to have the opportunity to preach the gospel on the streets of our capital city. Below are 2 encouraging examples: Karen works in Kingston-upon-Thames. She happened to pass our open-air meeting whilst on her lunch-break and stood listening intently for some time. In the conversation afterwards Karen seemed very convicted by her sin and seemed to show real concern as to where she stood before the Lord. Os stopped at our open-air in Hounslow. He is a devout Muslim whose father has established a local Muslim centre. Os himself is fluent in Arabic and has memorized the entire Quran! I was able to share the gospel with him and he seemed to have a genuine desire to know God. Unfortunately however, he is convinced that he can have a relationship with God through observing the laws of Islam. Os wanted to keep in contact and we have been exchanging emails for some time now. Tim has recently accepted a call from his home church in Twickenham to become a trainee pastor. He will therefore be leaving the Mission at the end of August. We trust that the Lord will bless him as he moves on to this new sphere of service for the Lord. The Committee would like to thank Tim for his hard work with the Mission over the past 4 years. Tim will continue his connection with the Mission as an Associate worker.
