LIFE OF CHRIST
Last November we had a great opportunity to take the OAM’s ‘Life of Christ’ Exhibition into a number of schools in Devon for 2 weeks, one in the Exeter area and the other in Barnstaple. Once again we were much encouraged by the way children listened so well and a number of teachers expressed their surprise at the way the children concentrated so intently as we took them around. What encouraged me more perhaps than at any other time was the number of lovely questions the children asked and, again, teachers confessed how surprised they were at the depth of thinking of their children. Each question gave lovely opportunities to bring out the gospel. Below are only a few of the many and varied questions they asked:
Why are we all so bad? Where did Jesus get His power from? How did Jesus build this planet with no one to help Him? For how long has Jesus been the Son of God? Why did they kill Jesus, He was a nice guy, He did lots of good things? Why did they put a snake on the pole? What does it mean, that Jesus is the door? Why did Jesus have to go back to Heaven? Why do you believe in Jesus? When Jesus comes back to this earth, what country will He come back to?
In one school several children wanted to know where they could get hold of Bibles. When we said we might be able to help, the teacher felt that the whole class would like one. Later, when we told them we could supply New Testaments, we were asked if the whole of that year could have them. What a joy it was in February to go back to that school and take an assembly. We were told on arrival to take as long as we wanted. I was able to give my testimony, as to how the New Testament had changed my life. Then our Gideon friends spoke of the work of the Gideons and presented the Testaments. Not one child refused, but rather showed great delight with what they had received. Some could be seen reading them straight away!
