LOOKING BACK ON WOOLACOMBE
Sadly the weather last year was very unsettled. On some days we were only able to hold one meeting on the beach! We had one day of continuous rain, but thankfully we were able to have a very enjoyable indoor meeting with 24 children. Despite the showery weather, we were thankful that we were able to hold 13 children’s meetings on the beach.
Within the first two days we met 3 children who have all trusted the Saviour in previous years and it was lovely to see their continued interest in spiritual things. Some friends met one of these families at their caravan site and discovered that through seeing the changed life of one of these girls an auntie is now becoming very interested in the gospel.
During the Beach Mission we were encouraged with the number of contacts with religious people. Sandra and her husband Carl from Stourbridge were very religious, but not saved. They listened intently to the preaching. I was able to tell them how I was once religious too, but not a real Christian. They took a ‘Sure of Heaven?’ CD and a John’s gospel. An elderly lady named Jean listened to the preaching for a long time. She went to an Anglican Church and believed she was a Christian but was unsure of Heaven.
It is just over 3 months before some of the Beach Missions commence. How we pray that the weather may be more favourable this year and more than that, that the Lord will be preparing the hearts of children and adults who will hear the Word. For some the ‘Day of Grace’ will soon come to an end. For those who are lost, it will be the fearful prospect. How urgent we need to be in sharing the gospel. If you might like to help on a Beach Mission team this year please contact the office as soon as possible for more details.
